My MacBook Pro display is garbled :-(
Oh NO!
A few hours ago I was using Safari to do some reading and Finder to re-organize some files, and noticed some graphical glitches. I wasn't doing anything cpu or graphic intensive, and hadn't seen something like this happen before so I was a bit concerned. Further, I've now had my macbook for 14 months -- 2 months longer than the one year warranty it comes with. Not good.
I made my nervous face for a few seconds and continued working. Unfortunately, an hour later the screen scrambled -- looking kind of like an analog TV with no signal. I went to try changing the resolution and turn the display off and back on thinking it might be some kind of software glitch. This was a no go... I was locked up.
I restarted and was greeted with this lovely image (click for big):
Great. I waited awhile and tried to reboot a few more times. Most of the time it made it to the desktop, but it kept glitching and locking up within a few minutes. Time to search the internets :-/
There seems to be good news though. I googled my problem and found this and this. So Apple supposedly will repair my laptop for free. Now my only problem is to find somewhere to do it, and not pay anything for it. I'll let you know how that goes...
